Tutorial on How to Install Prestashop!

  (by )

If you’re thinking of running your own online store or internet shop, then you should check out PrestaShop! PrestaShop is an attractive and easy to use open source ecommerce application, and it comes equipped with loads of great features.  Plus, PrestaShop is so simple to install, thanks to Installatron, one of our one-click auto-installers!

This tutorial provides you with screenshots and easy to follow instructions for every step of the installation process. Just follow along, and you’ll have PrestaShop installed in minutes!

Login to your cPanel and type “installatron” in the find box. The Installatron icon will appear to the right of the box.

Click on the Installatron icon.  On the next page, type “prestashop” in the search box and hit enter.

On the next page, click the “install this application” button.

On the next page, you will need to configure your PrestaShop installation using the install wizard.

The Location section allows you to choose where you install PrestaShop.  If you have multiple domains in your cPanel account, then you will need to select the desired domain from the Domain dropdown.

If you want people to be able to access your PrestaShop installation by simply visiting your domain name, then leave the Directory field blank.  However, if you want people to access your PrestaShop installation by visiting a URL like www.yourdomain.com/shop, then you should type shop in the Directory field.

The Version section allows you to choose which version of PrestaShop to install, accept the license agreement, and manage automatic updates.

You can select the version of PrestaShop you would like to install by using the Version dropdown.  We recommend always installing the latest version, as it will offer the most security and features.  If you want the admin area of your PrestaShop site to use a language other than English, select your desired language from the Language dropdown.  You can also choose whether or not to have demo content added during the installation process.

Next, you can review the license agreement for PrestaShop.  If you don’t want to accept the license agreement, then you will not be able to install PrestaShop.

Next, you can manage your Automatic Update settings.  We recommend automatically updating to new minor versions and security releases, as this will help keep your PrestaShop installation secure from hackers.

The Settings section allows you to customise your PrestaShop installation.

You can enter the email address and password for the admin area of your PrestaShop site.  Please choose a strong password for the admin area of your site to help make your website as secure as possible.  Make a note of your password; you will use it to login to the admin area of your site.  The admin email address for your site will serve as your username.

Next, enter the title for your website.  This information will appear on your website, web browsers, and in search engine results.  You can update this information at a later date via the admin area of PrestaShop.

The Advanced section allows you to choose whether or not you want to manage databases, email notifications, default backup locations, and automatic backups yourself.  Unless you are familiar with managing these settings, we recommend choosing to allow Installatron to automatically manage these settings for you.

Once you’ve configured your settings, click the Install button to begin installing PrestaShop.

Once you’ve successfully installed PrestaShop, you will be able to login to the admin area of your site by clicking the admin URL.

On the next page, simply login using the email address and password you created during the installation process, and you can begin building your website using PrestaShop.
