If you want a new theme for your WordPress site or blog, the first step is to download the files for the new theme to your computer.
Now that the file for the new WordPress theme is on your local hard drive, you just have to upload the file to the ‘wp-content/themes’ directory of your site. There are a couple of ways you can upload the theme to your site:
- Upload the .zip file of the theme in the ‘wp-content/themes’ directory using the File Manager and extract it online, or
- Extract the .zip file in your computer and upload the contents to the desired folder using FTP.
Once the new theme is uploaded to your site in the correct folder, you will be able see it in your WordPress admin panel, and you can make it the default theme for your web site or blog.
