Guide to Creating Posts with WordPress

While some people can jump right into WordPress and start blogging, others need a little help.  In this tutorial, I’ll walk you through the process of creating posts in WordPress.  I’ve provided screenshots and easy to follow instructions to help you start blogging!

The first step is to enter your username and password and click “Log In”

When you login for the first time, you’ll see that WordPress has already created a post for you.  If you would like to view, edit, or delete the post, you can either click on the word “Posts” or “Post”.

Click the title of the post “Hello world!” to view, edit, or delete this post.

If  you want to edit the title and content of the post, just click in the text boxes.

If you want to preview how your changes will look to visitors, click “Preview” and a new window will open.

If you’re happy with the look of your blog, close the window and save your changes by clicking “Update Post”.

If you would like to delete the post, simply click “Delete”.

If you would like create a new post, just click “Add New” under Posts.

Enter the title and content for your new post in the text boxes.  If you aren’t ready to publish your post yet, you can save a copy of it by clicking “Save Draft.

Otherwise, you can preview in a new window how the post will look to visitors by clicking “Preview”, then close the window, and click “Publish” to make the post visible to visitors.

So that’s it!  Pretty simple, right?  Once you know the basics, WordPress really can be a fast and easy way to create a blog or even a website!
