Vanilla Forums is an application designed to help users create a dynamic online community with a modern appearance and great functionality. With the help of Installatron, one of our auto-installers, this forum application is quick and easy to install. To make the installation process even simpler, I’ve created a tutorial with directions and screenshots to help you through every step of installing Vanilla Forums!
First, login to your cPanel and type ‘Installatron’ into the ‘Find’ box on the left side of the screen–the Installatron icon will appear under ‘Software/Services’ on the right hand side of the screen. Click the Installatron icon.
On the next page, search for ‘Vanilla Forums’ in the search box.
On the next page, click the ‘install this application’ button.

If you have more than one domain in your cPanel account, then you will need to choose the appropriate domain from the dropdown box labeled ‘Domain’ on the next page. If you want your site’s visitors to reach the forum by visiting a URL like yourdomain.com/forum, then you would enter forum in the ‘Path’ field. If you want your forum to be found at yourdomain.com, then you would leave this field blank.
You can choose which version of Vanilla Forums you would like to install (we strongly recommend selecting the latest version), as well as the language.
Unless you have experience managing software databases, you should choose to have Installatron automatically manage the database settings for you.
Under the ‘Settings’ section, you can change the default administrator username, password, and email address, as well the website title. Please be sure to make a note of your username and password. Then, click the ‘Install’ button.
Installatron should begin installing Vanilla Forums.
You should receive a message stating you’ve successfully installed Vanilla Forums. To sign in to the admin area of your Vanilla Forums’ installation, click on the URL next to ‘administration’ on the next page.
On the next page, click the ‘Sign In’ button on the right side of the screen.
Just enter the username and password you noted down earlier, click ‘Sign In’, and start creating your online forum!
