On Monday, I told you how easy it is to install Joomla, one of the 60+ free scripts with offer with every web hosting plan, so now I’m going to show you how simple it is to upload and install Joomla templates.
Joomla templates are a simple way to change the look and feel of your web site, and they’re really easy to install. The first step is finding the Joomla template you want to use for your site ( our blog on 25 free professional Joomla templates is a great place to start looking!). Once you choose your template, download it to your computer, and login to your Joomla admin area.
Enter your username and password and click “Login”
Click “Install/Uninstall” under “Extensions”
Click on “Browse”, find the .zip file for the new template, and click “Upload File & Install”.
Note: If this is your first time installing a template, you may get an error related to JFTP. Just click on “Global Configuration” under the “Site” tab on the navigation bar; under “FTP Settings” you will need to change “Enable FTP” to “No”. Make sure to apply your changes and try uploading and installing the template again.
You will see a message telling you the installation was successful. To set the new template as the default template, click “Template Manager” under “Extensions”.
Check the radio button next to the new template’s name and click “Default”
You will see that there is now a star next to the template — this means this is now the default template.
And that’s it! You now have a new template for your Joomla site!

Thanks for the info. Next step: learning how to make custom templates with Joomla! I’ve got WordPress down but from what I hear Joomla! is much better for websites than WordPress which is meant for blogs.
