Holiday Templates & Extensions for Joomla

Believe it or not, but the holidays are right around the corner, so it’s time to start getting your Joomla site ready with some great extensions and templates!  I found some free extensions that will make it look like snow is falling on your site, as well as a flash countdown timer to help you remind your visitors of the number of days left until a particular holiday–a great extension for online merchants who want to remind their customers they only have a few shopping days left! 

If you want to radically change the look of your website for the holidays, I’ve also found some premium Joomla templates designed to give your site a cheery look!

Yooholidays

This free Joomla extension includes three different effects–flying bats for Halloween, fireworks for New Years, and falling snow that collects at the bottom of the screen for winter.  Yooholidays is very easy to install and you can set this extension to start and end on specific dates.

Xmas Snowballs

This Joomla extension is similar to the falling effect found in YooHolidays, except instead of just falling snow, this extension has falling snowflakes.  Xmas Snowballs allows you to control how many snowflakes you want on the screen at one time and how quickly they disappear.  You can’t automate when you want it to start and stop, so be sure to enable and disable this extension at the appropriate times.

Flash Countdown Timer

This is a simple Joomla extension for counting down the time until a specific date (i.e., Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, etc.) on your website.  Flash Countdown Timer is great extension for online retailers who want to remind their customers they only have a certain number of shopping days left until a particular holiday.
