10 of the Best Google Chrome Extensions for Bloggers

As a blogger, I’m always looking for tools to help me work more efficiently and effectively, and some of my favourite tools for blogging are actually extensions for Google Chrome.  I’ve rounded up 10 of my favourite Google Chrome extensions to share with you, including tools to help you take screenshots, research articles, optimise your blog for search engines, maintain multiple blogs, and much more!

Awesome Screenshot:  Capture & Annotate

If you use a lot of screenshots on your blog, then Awesome Screenshot is the perfect extension for you!  With this extension, you can take a screenshot, annotate and edit the image, and save or upload it, all within your browser.  This means you’ll never need to use another software application for screenshots–Google Chrome is all you need!  If you want a fast and easy way to capture, edit, save, and upload screenshots, then install the Awesome Screenshot extension for Google Chrome today!

Feedly

If your blog requires tons of research, then Feedly, an extension for Google Chrome, can help save you a lot of time.  Feedly enables you to organise articles from your favourite websites in a magazine style start page, so researching content for your blog is a lot easier and much more enjoyable.  With Feedly, you can search for a site’s URL, a topic, feed URL, or Twitter ID, and your start page will be populated with articles related to your query.  Plus, Feedly will recommend new sources based on your favourite sites, Twitter feed, and Facebook profile, exposing you to new and relevant websites.

AddThis – Bookmark, Email, Share, Translate

With AddThis, a Google Chrome extension, visitors to your blog can easily share, bookmark, and even translate your posts or website using over 200 sites and services, including Twitter, Facebook, and Delicious.  AddThis will place a customised “share” button on your website or blog, and your visitors can simply click this button to share your content with their friends.  Plus, you can receive sharing statistics simply by registering (for free!) with AddThis, so you’ll be able to track how many of your visitors are sharing your blog with others.

ScribeFire

If you maintain multiple blogs, then you need to download ScribeFire, a blog editor that enables you to post to any blog that supports MovableType or MetaWeblog APIs, including Blogger, WordPress, Tumblr, and TypePad.  ScribeFire integrates with Google Chrome, and it’s full of tons of great features, so you can easily update all of your blogs using a single blog editor!  Plus, ScribeFire has an extremely simple interface, so you’ll easily be able to  create, edit, delete, or update blog posts.

After the Deadline

If you want to be taken seriously as a blogger, then you need to make sure your articles are free from grammar and spelling mistakes.  Thankfully, After the Deadline, an extension for Google Chrome, will check your blog, as well as your tweets and emails, for grammatical errors and misspellings.  To use After the Deadline, just install the extension, and you can proofread your writing simply by clicking the ABC icon in the corner of the editable area.  Plus, After the Deadline can proofread content written in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, German, Portuguese, and French!

Diigo Web Highlighter and Bookmark

With Diigo Web Highlighter and Bookmark, you can annotate and highlight webpages while you read them online, making it a perfect for tool for bloggers who spend a lot of time researching articles.  You can permanently attach sticky notes and highlights to a webpage, as well share annotated articles via email, so it’s ideal for bloggers who collaborate with others.  Articles with highlights and sticky notes can also be shared via social media sites, including Twitter, Facebook, and Delicious, so it’s perfect for bloggers who use social networking sites!

TinEye Reverse Image Search

If you use your own copyrighted images on your blog, and you want to ensure other websites aren’t using them without your permission, then I recommend installing TinEye Reverse Image Search, an extension for Google Chrome.  TinEye Reverse Image Search uses image identification technology to scour the web for sites using a particular image, including cropped, resized and edited versions, so you’ll know which sites are using your photographs without your permission.  This extension is incredibly easy to use, and it’s the perfect tool for bloggers who want to control the use of their copyrighted images.

FastestChrome – Browse Faster

If you’re a busy blogger looking for a Google Chrome extension guaranteed to help save you time, then you need to check out FastestChrome!  With FastestChrome, you don’t have to wait for pages to load or even click “Next”, because the Endless Pages feature will automatically load the next page before you’ve even finished the current page.  Plus, you can find out the definition of a word simply by highlighting it, and you can search for a keyword term just by selecting the text and clicking on the icon for your favourite search engine.  FastestChrome is packed full of time-saving features, so it’s the perfect extension for bloggers who want to become more productive!

Chrome SEO

If you want to optimise your blog for search engines, then you should install Chrome SEO, an extension for Google Chrome.  Chrome SEO includes tons of great tools designed to provide you with important statistical information, including PageRank Checks, Backlink Checks, Current Traffic and Rankings, and Social Bookmark Counts.  Plus, this extension includes the Keyword Research Tool, which is designed  to help you make your blog more search engine friendly.

LastPass

If you have a hard time keeping track of all your passwords for your blogs, social networking accounts, and email accounts, then you need LastPass, an online password manager.  With LastPass, you create a master password to use for all of your accounts, so you only need to remember a single password.  Plus, you don’t have to worry about security because your sensitive data is encrypted on your computer, so not even LastPass has access to your master password.  LastPass also includes a Form Filler, so you can create multiple profiles and automatically enter your personal details into online forms.  If you want an extension that saves you time and helps you manage multiple passwords for your accounts, then you should install LastPass today!

  9. Thanks for the ideas and extensions! The “Chrome SEO” plugin is awesome as it does so much! But it also makes you wonder how much data Google is getting from people who use it! I still think the good out weighs the bad with it though.
