US Datacenter (Resolved)

We are currently experiencing networking issues with our US datacenter, DimeNOC. We believe this is being caused by a DDoS attack on the datacenter. Currently this is one affecting 2 servers but occasional glitches are causing our site and our other US servers to become unavailable for short period.

We are communicating with datacenter staff to gain more details on the issue and will update this post with more information as often as we can.

Update @ 08.36: Opti is back with us and I hope this won’t repeat.

Update @ 8.00: Opti died again unfortunately, NOC staff are checking/repairing right now.

Update @ 7.00: Opti spent another 4 hours sleeping due to another power cut, it’s back now though.

Update @ 23.17: The server is back with us now, we continue to move customers on Opti over to the UK again tomorrow, this outage unfortunately means we’re a day behind where we should be.

Update @ 17.00: We can now confirm that the cause of the outage is a power failure at the datacenter, contrary to our original information.

We have the following statement from the datacenter regarding the issue:

“At approximately 8 A.M. EST a segment of our data center experienced a power outage. Shortly after that we realized the city had experienced a power outage as well which attributed to the loss we saw in the NOC. We immediately went into generator power and we are still currently running on generator.

What happens when there is power loss is that we immediately go into UPS for a few minutes meanwhile the generator powers up. The UPS ensures no service disruption meanwhile the generator turns on. This happened normally but approximately 40% of the servers tripped during this process. Power loss and going into UPS followed by generator power has happened a few times in the past. But we have never experienced what has happened today – the power surge during this outage was extremely high .

We are meeting with our electrical engineers as we speak to analyze the situation to learn exactly what happened. We still have the data center running on generator as the power in the city could still be unstable and we do not want to risk any further outages. “

  2. I would echo what David Martin has said.

Honesty and integrity from Evohosting is far more important than 100% uptime
